Binance Expands Bstocks Collateral as Tokenized Stock Volumes Jump 33x

Key Takeaways

  • Binance opened bStocks collateral access to all users, generating $30B+ in volume since June 2026.
  • Tokenized-stock trading volume jumped 33× YTD, with bStocks capturing 85% of DEX volume in July.
  • Binance deployed automated risk controls for VIP 0–2 users while offering up to 5× leverage on bStocks.

Democratizing Cross-Margin Collateral

Binance announced Sept. 21 that it is expanding collateral access for its tokenized equity suite, bstocks, enabling all eligible retail and institutional users to deploy tokenized stocks as collateral for futures and margin trading.

The move expands on bstocks’ rapid adoption following its June 2026 launch. The suite surpassed $30 billion in cumulative trading volume in under 90 days, capturing approximately 85% of tokenized-equity decentralized exchange (DEX) volume in July.

Previously restricted to high-volume VIP 3 and above accounts, bstocks collateral support now extends across portfolio margin and cross margin accounts for all eligible users, subject to valuation haircuts, margin requirements, and regulatory guardrails.

According to a statement, the expansion offers several key strategic utilities for traders, including the ability to borrow quote assets in cross-margin or portfolio margin accounts to purchase bstocks with up to 5× leverage.

Traditional stockholders can convert equity holdings to bstocks, unlocking decentralized finance (DeFi) and margin utility while maintaining eligibility for dividend distributions. In portfolio margin accounts, bstocks can function as collateral while simultaneously serving as a hedge against futures short positions.

“The powerful use case is that users do not need to think about tokenized equities and crypto positions as separate portfolios,” said Shunyet Jan, Head of Exchange and Trading at Binance. “They can maintain continuous exposure to a sector or ETF-linked bStocks while using those same assets as collateral to manage risk or pursue tactical opportunities. That is where tokenization starts to become truly useful.”

Turnover Outpaces Issuance Growth

The rapid scaling of bstocks mirrors a broader shift in the tokenized-stock sector, where utility and distribution are outpacing simple asset issuance. Year-to-date data shows that while the market capitalization of tokenized stocks grew roughly 4×, monthly trading volume jumped more than 33× over the same period, indicating high velocity and asset turnover driven by 24/7 trading availability.

To maintain system stability amid broader access, Binance has introduced automated risk management controls for VIP 0–2 accounts. Accounts exceeding specific risk thresholds will face temporary operational restrictions, which automatically lift once safe margin levels are restored. VIP 3 and above accounts remain exempt from these specific caps.

By integrating tokenized stocks directly into its core derivatives and margin infrastructure, Binance continues to aggregate on-chain equity liquidity onto its platform and the BNB Chain, redefining how crypto-native traders manage cross-asset exposure.
