XRP is breaking into global travel as Webus teams with Air China to unlock crypto payments for 60 million loyalty users, redefining how premium travel gets paid.
XRP Cracks Into Global Aviation as Webus and Air China Target 60M Loyalty Members

Webus and Air China Link up to Bring XRP Payments to 60M Loyalty Users
Webus International Ltd. (Nasdaq: WETO) announced on Sept. 3 that it had signed a strategic partnership with Air China Ltd., aiming to bring XRP payment options to the airline’s 60 million-plus Phoenixmiles members. Under the agreement, Webus’ Wetour platform will provide premium chauffeur-driven transfers and airport services to Air China passengers worldwide. The deal broadens Webus’ global mobility footprint while setting the stage for blockchain-based payment integration within one of the world’s largest airline loyalty programs.
Nan Zheng, chief executive officer of Webus, highlighted the scope of the collaboration: “This collaboration with Air China, with the potential to reach more than 60 million members and passengers, not only expands Wetour’s global service footprint but also accelerates our vision of building a Ripple-integrated travel ecosystem.” He added:
Looking ahead, Wetour plans to provide Air China’s Phoenixmiles members with access to its overseas platform with XRP payment support, enabling travelers to benefit from faster settlement, tokenized rewards, and blockchain-enabled vouchers directly tied to their membership benefits, subject to future business development and regulatory compliance.
“This marks a key step in connecting one of the world’s largest airline loyalty bases with the next generation of Web3 travel solutions,” the executive added.
This partnership follows other major crypto-related steps by Webus earlier this year. In August, the company enabled XRP token and Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin payments on its Wetour mobile web platform, letting travelers use digital assets to purchase vouchers and promotional coupons automatically linked to loyalty benefits.
The prior month, Webus secured a conditional equity line of up to $100 million from Ripple Strategy Holdings to strengthen its XRP treasury strategy, supporting crypto-enabled payments and blockchain loyalty initiatives. While integration and compliance hurdles remain, analysts note that these moves illustrate how Webus is positioning itself to combine global travel services with Web3 technologies, potentially streamlining settlement and creating new value for travelers.
