EMCD, one of the world’s leading Bitcoin mining ecosystems, has opened a hashrate-weighted vote among its mining pool participants to determine the pool’s signaling position on Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 110 (BIP-110), a proposal that would introduce new limits on storing arbitrary non-monetary data in Bitcoin transactions. The initiative is not an endorsement of the proposal or opposition to it. Instead, it reflects EMCD’s commitment to ensuring that the pool’s signaling represents the collective view of its mining community.

EMCD Launches Miner Vote on BIP-110 to Gather Community Feedback

BIP-110 has sparked active discussion across the Bitcoin ecosystem, with differing opinions on its potential impact. As a mining infrastructure provider, EMCD believes that decisions on protocol-related matters should be shaped by the people who contribute to securing the network.
Voting is open to all EMCD pool participants, with each vote weighted according to the miner’s contributed hashrate. Once the voting concludes, EMCD will update the pool’s signaling to reflect the collective decision of its miners.
“At EMCD, we do not support the approach proposed in BIP-110, as we believe changes of this kind should not impose additional restrictions on how the Bitcoin network is used. At the same time, our role as a mining pool is to represent our miners – not to override their views. That’s why we’re putting this question to a hashrate-weighted vote and will update our signaling to reflect the decision of the community like it was supposed to work, no matter how mining evolved over the years, even if the outcome differs from EMCD’s own position,” – said Konstantin Zherebtsov, General Manager of EMCD Mining Pool.
This approach reflects EMCD’s broader philosophy of neutrality, transparency, and decentralization. Rather than speaking for its users, the company is providing a transparent mechanism that allows miners to collectively determine how the pool should signal on an important proposal affecting the Bitcoin ecosystem.
Miners can cast their vote in favor of or against BIP-110 through the EMCD platform. After the voting period ends, the pool’s signaling will be updated according to the final result.
