U.S. Law Enforcement Moves 3,940 Bitcoin

The U.S. government executed this transfer of 3,940 BTC valued at $243 million. This action by U.S. law enforcement coincided with similar sales of BTC by the German government in the preceding weeks. Prominent onchain analysts, including Zachxbt and the Arkham Intelligence team, tracked this movement.

Arkham reported that these funds were confiscated from narcotics dealer Banmeet Singh and forfeited following a trial in January 2024. Singh was involved in drug trafficking operations across platforms like Silk Road, Alpha Bay, and Hansa, as per the U.S. Justice Department. He admitted guilt on Jan. 26, 2024, to charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances and conspiracy to engage in money laundering.

BTC experienced a decline of 0.5% against the U.S. dollar subsequent to the event. Moreover, the price has dropped below the $61,000 range. As of the latest updates, the U.S. government holds 213,546 BTC, now worth over $13 billion after the recent disposal of 3,940 BTC.
