Justin Sun Elected as Liberland Congress Speaker, Appointed Acting Prime Minister
The Liberland congressional election, conducted entirely through blockchain technology, is seen as a step toward ensuring transparency and finality in democratic processes. Justin Sun, a well-known entrepreneur and founder of the Tron network, was elected as Speaker and will also serve as acting Prime Minister.
Alongside Sun, other prominent figures, including Evan Luthra and Jillian Godsil, were elected to the Liberland Congress, a goal aimed at adding strength to the country’s blockchain initiatives. Sun’s victory brings an influx of experience from the blockchain sector, which aligns with Liberland’s focus on leveraging decentralized technology.
According to the announcement, Sun and Luthra, both newcomers to the Liberland political scene, are anticipated to drive forward the nation’s tech-based initiatives. The re-election of seasoned members Navid Saberin, Dorian Stern Vukotić, and Michal Ptáčník further cements the Congress’s blend of innovation and stability.
Liberland is a micronation founded in 2015 by former Czech libertarian politician Vít Jedlička. Liberland claims a 7 square kilometer (2.7 square miles) parcel of land called Gornja Siga, located on the western bank of the Danube River between Croatia and Serbia. This area was a disputed territory that emerged after the breakup of Yugoslavia, claimed by neither Croatia nor Serbia.
