TON Community Issues Statement After Pavel Durov’s Arrest

The TON community issued a statement following the arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in France. The statement begins:

We want to assure everyone that the TON community remains strong and fully operational.

“As a community committed to freedom of speech and decentralization, we stand firmly by Pavel during this challenging time. Pavel has been a dedicated advocate for these values, and we believe his efforts to promote an open and decentralized internet will continue to inspire millions,” the statement continues.

The TON (The Open Network) community comprises developers, enthusiasts, and supporters dedicated to advancing and promoting the TON blockchain. Originally, TON was a blockchain project initiated by Telegram to create a decentralized, scalable, and fast blockchain network. However, after facing regulatory challenges in the U.S., Telegram officially withdrew from the project in 2020.

“The TON community remains focused on our mission, and we will continue our work to uphold these principles globally,” the statement adds, noting:

We encourage everyone to stay calm, united, and to keep building as we navigate this situation together.
