Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed a criminal complaint against Aux Cayes FinTech Co. Ltd., the operator of the digital asset exchange OKX, and nine associated individuals for allegedly operating an unlicensed digital asset exchange. The complaint, submitted to Thailand’s Economic Crime Suppression Division, claims that OKX violated the Emergency Decree on Digital Asset Businesses (2018) by offering trading services without the necessary licensing. The SEC’s investigation revealed that OKX provided digital asset trading services on its website, charging a transaction fee of 0.1%, and promoted its services extensively on social media platforms. The nine individuals named in the complaint are accused of facilitating OKX’s operations through online promotions, which reportedly boosted the exchange’s user base and market presence. The SEC has warned the public about the risks of unlicensed operators, advising investors to verify the licensing status of digital asset service providers through the SEC’s official channels.
