Understanding Bitcoin’s Impact on the Financial System
The Zurich University of Applied Sciences (HWZ), a Swiss institution, has said it is launching the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) Bitcoin Economy training course. This 16-day program targets individuals interested in integrating bitcoin ( BTC) into new business models.
Rino Borini, who leads the CAS, emphasized that this unique course in Europe aims to help students understand how BTC influences the financial system. Borini expressed delight at HWZ’s decision to explore this topic academically.
“I am very pleased that HWZ has the courage and foresight to explore such a young topic academically,” Borini said.
According to a report by 20 Minuten, the short course covers not only the top crypto asset’s impact on the financial system but also includes a section on BTC as an asset class. Prospective students enrolling in the program, which begins in March 2025, will need to pay approximately $10,900 (9,950 francs). Classes will be conducted in German twice a week, and successful participants will earn 15 ECTS credits.
Initial reactions to the CAS launch have been mixed. Some have questioned the high fee relative to the course’s duration while others suggested it may be more suitable for speculative enthusiasts. However, one reader argued that the CAS contributes to Master’s students’ credits and provides an “official certificate” not typically offered by online courses.
