Semler Scientific Expands Bitcoin Holdings, Acquires 247 More BTC

Semler Scientific Inc. (Nasdaq: SMLR), a developer of medical technology aimed at fighting chronic diseases, has expanded its bitcoin portfolio by acquiring an additional 247 bitcoins for $17 million, inclusive of fees and expenses. As of June 6, the company’s total bitcoin holdings stood at 828 BTC, purchased for a combined $57 million. CEO Doug Murphy-Chutorian highlighted the company’s strategic commitment to both healthcare innovation and cryptocurrency investment, citing bitcoin as both a valuable investment and a stable financial asset. Semler Scientific intends to sustain its bitcoin acquisition strategy using its cash reserves. On May 28, the firm announced the adoption of bitcoin as its primary treasury reserve asset and the purchase of 581 bitcoins for $40 million.
