Prisma Finance in Turmoil: $11.6M Lost to Hackers, Emergency Measures Activated
On a recent Thursday, blockchain surveillance and safety squads from Peckshield and Cyvers reported the intrusion into Prisma Finance’s liquid staking mechanism. Cyvers unveiled that their monitoring system identified a “malicious contract” a mere two minutes before the attack was executed. Peckshield, signaling an alert, posted on the social media outlet X, “Hi [Prisma Finance], you may want to take a look (w/ $8.1m).” Peckshield added:
The attack is ongoing, with the total loss now increased to ~3,257.7 ETH (worth ~$11.6 million)
In response, Prisma Finance engaged with its followers on X, providing an update on the situation. “We are aware of a possible exploit on Prisma,” the defi platform’s X account said. “Core engineering contributors will pause the protocol and investigate. We’ll share an update and a post-mortem.” Moreover, Prisma urged its users to revoke all connections to prevent loss of funds.
