Polymarket Bets Forecast a Close 2024 Presidential Race
Two months ago, in early February 2024, the Polygon-based prediction platform Polymarket revealed Donald Trump leading with a 52% chance while current President Joe Biden was at 33%. Since then, both the odds and the wager amounts have seen substantial shifts, doubling in value.
Initially, the market labeled โPresidential Election Winner 2024โ was valued at $51.04 million; as of April 12, it has escalated to $110.48 million. Essentially, Polymarket serves as a platform for predictions, allowing users to trade shares depending on the likely outcomes of forthcoming events, functioning on the Polygon blockchain.

The current odds indicate that Republican Trump still leads with a 46% likelihood of victory, while Democrat Biden is close behind with a 44% chance. Independent Robert Kennedy Jr. is significantly behind with only a 4% chance of winning. Despite not entering the race, former First Lady Michelle Obama and current Vice President Kamala Harris each maintain a 2% likelihood of victory.
Notably, online prediction sites such as oddschecker.com and covers.com depict a closely contested election. Covers.com suggests Biden and Trump are neck-and-neck, while oddschecker.com positions Trump slightly ahead by a single basis point on April 12, 2024.
The upcoming U.S. election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, marking the first rematch since 1956, which featured Dwight D. Eisenhower against Adlai Stevenson II. On a historical note, if Trump is victorious, he will become the second president to serve nonconsecutive terms, following Grover Cleveland.
