Len Sassaman Leads Polymarket Bets Ahead of HBO’s Bitcoin Mystery Documentary
HBO’s upcoming documentary, “Money Electric,” claims to have discovered the elusive Bitcoin creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. The film, featuring appearances from Blockstream’s Adam Back, Bitcoin.com founder Roger Ver, and software developer Peter Todd, among others, will premiere on Oct. 9, 2024. Directed by Cullen Hoback, known for his work on the Qanon series “Q: Into the Storm,” this film has fans and critics alike eagerly awaiting its release.
In the meantime, Polymarket has launched a betting market on who the documentary will credit as Satoshi. According to the rules, “This market will resolve to ‘Yes’ if the HBO documentary ‘Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery’ currently scheduled to air on October 8, identifies Len Sassaman as the primary creator of Bitcoin. Otherwise, this market will resolve to ‘No.’”
The betting rules further clarify that if the documentary points to multiple candidates, the market will resolve based on the person who is most clearly portrayed or shown as the leading figure behind Bitcoin’s creation. Should Len Sassaman and someone else be presented as equally likely in the film’s conclusion, the outcome will be a ‘No.’ At the moment, Len Sassaman holds the top spot with a 49% chance of being revealed as Satoshi in the upcoming film.
One of the reasons Sassaman is the favorite is thanks to Alex Thorn, Head of Research at Galaxy Digital, who shared with his X followers that he had heard whispers it was going to be Sassaman. “Hearing that the forthcoming HBO (Wed Oct. 9) documentary identifies Len Sassaman as Satoshi,” Thorn remarked on the social media platform.
In the Polymarket betting pool, right beneath Sassaman is Hal Finney, holding a 15% chance, followed by Nick Szabo at 3%. Other contenders in the mix include Adam Back, Craig Wright, Dorian Nakamoto, Wei Dai, Gavin Andresen, and even Elon Musk. As the buzz intensifies and speculation reaches new heights, the stakes surrounding the mystery of Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity grow.
Whether Len Sassaman or another candidate emerges as Bitcoin’s creator, the unveiling promises to fuel endless debate. With so many contenders and possibilities, only the documentary’s release will finally reveal where the truth lies—or if it remains hidden.
