Crypto Exchanges Urged to Block Compromised PLA Tokens
Playdapp, a Web3 gaming platform, confirmed on Feb. 9 that its PLA token contract had been hacked by cybercriminals who have since issued additional tokens. In an alert issued via X (formerly Twitter), Playdapp said it had taken several protective measures, including requesting its exchange partners to suspend trading of the tokens.

Cyvers Alerts, the security firm which initially uncovered the breach, found that the hackers had minted 200 million PLA tokens, valued at $31 million. In an alert issued the same day, Cyvers Alerts confirmed that the tokens were subsequently distributed to several addresses. However, the firm added that no asset swap had been executed at that time.
Playdapp Offers to Reward the Hacker
Meanwhile, in one update after confirming the breach, Playdapp informed its users of an offer made to the hackers. The offer proposed a reward for the return of all stolen assets and contracts. However, Playdapp stated that the hackers’ refusal to accept this offer would result in the Web3 gaming platform reporting the incident to law enforcement authorities.
“Failure to accept this offer will prompt us to quickly work with the FBI and law enforcement agencies in the pursuit of the hacker. Furthermore, we will publicly announce a bounty and seek assistance from a WEB3 security provider,” Playdapp said.
In addition to asking crypto exchanges to block the stolen digital assets, the Web3 gaming platform said it had transferred all Playdapp-held PLA to a “new, secure wallet.” This step applied to both locked and unlocked holdings, Playdapp said.
