Paypal and Venmo Roll out ENS Support

On Tuesday, ENS shared on the social media platform X that both Paypal and Venmo now support ENS names. ENS operates as a blockchain-based naming protocol on Ethereum, offering an intuitive interface for accessing blockchain addresses, websites, and decentralized applications ( dapps).

In essence, ENS converts lengthy, intricate cryptocurrency addresses into straightforward, human-readable names. This facilitates the transfer of crypto assets and supports the storage of profile data and additional metadata. “We’re thrilled to announce that [ENS domains are] now supported on [Paypal and Venmo],” the X account said.

ENS added:

This new feature brings the power of ENS to millions, making crypto transfers easier and more secure than ever—starting in the USA.

The procedure involving Paypal and Venmo is straightforward: users merely enter their ENS name during the initiation of crypto transactions on these platforms, and the system seamlessly converts it into the corresponding wallet address. This method, according to the team, essentially eradicates the hassle of copying and pasting extensive addresses.

Furthermore, the recently launched “Address Book” feature enables users to save and swiftly retrieve their commonly used ENS names and wallet addresses, thereby speeding up the transfer process. Initially available in the U.S., ENS has outlined plans for expansion into additional regions in the near future.
