OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced the release of GPT-4.5, the latest iteration of the company’s flagship artificial intelligence (AI) model. Altman warned that, while this was not a reasoning model and won’t crush benchmarks, it has improved on its previous version in the conversational department. “It is the first model that feels like talking to a thoughtful person to me,” he stated, highlighting the benefits of this update. However, Altman acknowledged that the rollout would be gradual to different subscription tiers as it is “a giant, expensive model.” Altman concluded by stressing that the company will add “thousands” of GPUs to complete the rollout in the coming week, with more coming in the future.
