Mt Gox Funds Redistribution
An examination of the onchain transfers from the Mt Gox bitcoin cache reveals that the funds have been allocated to three distinct addresses, each holding more than 47,000 BTC. In total, 141,686.19 BTC, valued at $9.67 billion, was transferred. At the time of writing, each address maintains a balance of $3.2 billion in bitcoin. The blockchain parser btcparser.com discovered the transfers.

All the Mt Gox bitcoins were transferred to legacy Pay-to-Public-Key-Hash (P2PKH) addresses. The first wallet, labeled “16eAG,” contains about 47,228.73 BTC. The second address, “1HeHL,” holds roughly 47,228.73 BTC, while the third address, identified as “1AsHP,” also secures 47,228.73 BTC.
In addition to these consolidations, 142,846.01 bitcoin cash ( BCH) was combined into a single address labeled “qqprd.” As of now, the BCH remains untouched in the wallet. This BCH is presently valued at $67.24 million. This development comes after former Mt Gox CEO Mark Karpeles remarked that “everything is fine.”
“As far as I know everything is fine with Mt Gox,” Karpeles stated. “The trustee is moving coins to a different wallet in preparation of the distribution that will likely happen this year, there is no imminent sale of bitcoins happening.”
The recent redistribution of Mt Gox’s substantial bitcoin holdings into three legacy P2PKH addresses marks a meticulous preparation phase preceding an anticipated distribution. With over $9.6 billion secured in bitcoin and $67.24 million in bitcoin cash, stakeholders and observers alike remain watchful, hoping this careful orchestration signals a resolution in the lengthy saga of Mt Gox’s unsettled affairs.
