Japan’s Metaplanet Aims for 10,000 BTC by 2025
Metaplanet Inc., a Japanese investment firm, has reinforced its bitcoin accumulation strategy with the purchase of 135 BTC for 1.9 billion yen ($12.9 million) at an average price of 14.3 million yen ($95,951) per bitcoin. This latest acquisition brings its total BTC holdings to 2,235 BTC, a substantial increase from 141 BTC in June 2024.
The company officially recognized its bitcoin treasury operations as a core business line in Dec. 2024 with ambitious targets to hold 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026.
A key metric for the company is BTC Yield, which tracks its growth in bitcoin holdings relative to outstanding shares. Notably, Metaplanet achieved a BTC Yield of 309.8% in Q4 2024, demonstrating the success of its accumulation strategy.
With Japan emerging as a growing hub for bitcoin investment, Metaplanet’s aggressive bitcoin treasury strategy mirrors that of MicroStrategy, positioning it as a leader in institutional crypto adoption in Asia.
