With the rupiah pinned near 18,000 per dollar, 0.7 BTC now converts to more than 1 billion rupiah.
Just 0.7 Bitcoin Now Makes You a Billionaire in Indonesia

Key Takeaways
- One BTC is worth about IDR 1.49 billion today, so 0.7 BTC tops IDR 1 billion.
- The rupiah has slid from IDR 16,687 per dollar at the start of 2026 to roughly 18,000 by late October.
- Indonesia’s OJK counted 23.21 million crypto accounts in August 2026, up 1.23% month on month.
The Math
Crypto commentator Ash Crypto took to X and revealed that just 0.7 BTC is worth more than a billion IDR, with the dollar-rupiah rate currently sitting around 17,995. This puts 0.7 BTC at roughly IDR 1.04 billion. In dollars, that is about $58,000 at a bitcoin price near $82,700.
Moreover, it bears mentioning that bitcoin has held above $80,000 for weeks, while the rupiah has spent most of 2026 setting fresh lows.
How the Rupiah Got Here
The slide has been steady rather than sudden and on May 4, IDNFinancials reported that the rupiah closed at a record IDR 17,394 per dollar, a 4.28% depreciation from IDR 16,687 at the start of the year. One month later, on June 4, the currency broke through the 18,000 per dollar mark for the first time.
Local analysts read it as more than a market wobble, with Liza Camelia Suryanata of Kiwoom Sekuritas Indonesia warning that the move past 17,300 was “a signal that macroeconomic fundamentals are under pressure,” and said the government’s 8% growth target had become “highly unrealistic.” The same report noted that Bank Indonesia held its benchmark rate at 4.75% on April 22, which bought the currency only two days back below 17,300.
From 16,687 to about 18,000 is a loss of nearly 8% against the dollar in under 10 months. Over the same stretch, a rupiah saver who held bitcoin instead was measuring wealth in a unit that did not answer to Jakarta’s trade balance.
Lastly, historical price data shows bitcoin opening the year near $87,575, or about IDR 1.46 billion. Measured in dollars, bitcoin’s price is down roughly 5.5% year to date; however, when set against the rupiah, it is up close to 2%, because the currency fell faster than the coin.
Indonesians Are Paying Close Attention
Indonesia is not a fringe crypto market and its Financial Services Authority (OJK) revealed that 23.21 million accounts were trading crypto during the month of August alone. Not only that, but transaction values were also found to be climbing across the country at a 12.87% rate month-on-month (rising to IDR 23.16 trillion).
That base gives the rupiah’s slide a direct crypto audience. Every leg lower in the currency raises the local-currency value of bitcoin held on those exchanges, which is exactly the kind of chart that circulates fast on social media in a market of more than 23 million accounts.
