Interpol Seeks ‘Coin Young Master’ in Fraud and Theft Case
Hong Kong officials have requested Interpol’s assistance in tracking down a notorious cryptocurrency promoter, Wong Ching-kit, for his alleged involvement in multiple fraud and theft incidents. He is currently wanted for fraud and theft, linked to a HK$3 million (US$384,062) cryptocurrency deception case under investigation by the Commercial Crime Bureau.
Wong, a 30-year-old, known as “Coin Young Master,” gained notoriety in 2018 for throwing HK$6,000 from a rooftop, a stunt suspected to be a promotion for his cryptocurrency File Cash Coin, which subsequently fell in value. Following his rooftop stunt, he was arrested for disorderly conduct but later released on bail. In 2019, investors sued him for misleading them about a File Cash Coin mining business.
Wong, originally named Kwan Tsz-kit, ran multiple crypto schemes. He was convicted of theft in 2012 and sentenced to 160 hours of community service, after which he changed his name.
Interpol’s red notice is an alert issued to law enforcement agencies worldwide, requesting the location and provisional arrest of a person pending extradition or similar legal action. It is not an international arrest warrant but facilitates cooperation among countries to apprehend fugitives.
