Institutional Investors and 'Whales' Push Bitcoin Demand to New Heights

This article was published more than a year ago. Some information may no longer be current.

Bitcoin is experiencing a significant liquidity crisis as demand for it soars, with Cryptoquant analysts reporting a monthly demand increase from 40,000 BTC to 213,000 BTC, fueled by a rise in accumulation addresses and institutional investments through spot bitcoin ETFs in the US. The imbalance between the surging demand and the decreasing sell-side liquidity, with the liquid inventory capable of satisfying demand for only the next six to twelve months, has led to the lowest-ever liquid inventory of bitcoin in terms of months of demand. This liquidity crisis, coupled with the growing interest of large investors or β€œ whales,” indicates a potentially bullish future for bitcoin prices, despite possible price corrections in bullish markets.
