‘Hawk Tuah Girl’ Meme Coin HAWK Goes Kaput Within Hours of Launch

Haliey Welch, more commonly known as “Hawk Tuah Girl” on the Internet, launched a much-hyped-about Solana-based meme coin HAWK on Dec. 4. Within hours, it cratered by more than 90%, leaving unsuspecting investors stunned.

Some claimed to have filed complaints about the alleged pump-and-dump style launch to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) while others reached out to law firms such as Burwick Law which had published a post on X that said, “If you lost money on $HAWK, contact our firm to learn about your legal rights.”

In an attempt to conduct damage control, the 22-year-old’s team organized an audio event on X Spaces the next day to which Welch allegedly arrived late. She also left the event abruptly to get some sleep.

“Anyhoo, I’m gonna go to bed and I’ll see you guys tomorrow,” Welch said. The phrase has since gone viral on X.

The event was marked by vicious exchanges between journalist Stephen Findeisen or “Coffeezilla” and Alexander Larson Shultz also known as “Doc Hollywood,” a member of the HAWK team who appears to be some sort of crypto mentor to Welch. Findeisen accused the team of fraud while Shultz vigorously defended the launch.

What many people don’t know is that Shultz is the son-in-law of Canadian actor and comedian Howie Mandel. Shultz’s wife Jackelyn is Mandel’s daughter. The 69-year-old actor has published pro- crypto videos in the past about NFTs and bitcoin on his show Howie Mandel Does Stuff.

But that’s only one interesting fact about the man behind Welch’s HAWK. According to the entertainment database site IMDB, 37-year-old Shultz is a Los Angeles DJ and musician with a few successful hit songs such as “We Run L.A.” It’s not clear how he transitioned to crypto, but somehow, he managed to team up with a business partner by the name of “Over Here” to launch HAWK last week.

What lies ahead for Welch, Shultz, or HAWK, is up for speculation. But many on X are calling for refunds, jail time, or both. Welch does not appear to have any experience in the crypto space. She first went viral in a video where she bragged about her sexual creativity when performing fellatio.

The HAWK debacle has also spawned revenge tokens such as $TUAH and creative phrases by disgruntled investors such as, “Have to talk tuah judge,” and “Straight tuah prison.”

HAWK was trading at $0.002305 at the time of publication, down 33.52% since inception according to data from Coin Market Cap.
