Bitcoin Wallet Linked to German Police Stirs Concerns

A bitcoin wallet, reportedly linked to the German police and previously confiscated from a movie piracy site, has become active once more. Bitcoin.com News noted some of its activity on June 23, when the wallet contained 47,179 BTC, valued at just over $3 billion. As of today, the balance has reduced to 46,359 BTC, currently valued at $2.83 billion.

It’s known that at least 400 BTC were transferred to Coinbase and Kraken. Additionally, a portion of the funds was sent to an unidentified address, from where the BTC was further dispersed. It appears likely that the German authorities might be collaborating with an over-the-counter party to liquidate these assets. This $2.83 billion BTC wallet, along with the Mt Gox distribution coins, has alarmed the cryptocurrency community.

Besides these concerns, the past two weeks have seen a rise in miner activity and a decline in miner reserves. Moreover, there have been significant withdrawals related to U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds, with Monday marking the seventh consecutive day of outflows. These developments have contributed to significant unease and uncertainty, with the market showing a downtrend over the past week.
