Dylan Meissner, 31, of Westport, has pleaded guilty to fraud in Hartford federal court, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced. Meissner, a former Vice President of Finance at a cryptocurrency research firm, admitted to stealing over $4 million from his employer. Starting in January 2022, Meissner secured a $170,000 loan in ethereum from his company under false pretenses to cover personal investment losses. From February to November 2022, he continued diverting company funds for personal use, masking his actions with false accounting entries. Meissner, who has pleaded guilty to wire fraud, faces up to 20 years in prison and a restitution order of approximately $4.6 million. He is currently free on a $100,000 bond and will be sentenced on Oct. 11 by Judge Michael P. Shea.
