FDUSD to Integrate With Sui Blockchain
First Digital Labs, the issuer and asset manager of the fourth-biggest stablecoin in terms of market capitalization, FDUSD, disclosed this week via X their intentions to incorporate the stablecoin into the Sui layer one (L1) blockchain. Developed by Mysten Labs, the Sui platform employs a delegated proof-of- stake (DPoS) system to select its transaction-processing validators.
Regarding the FDUSD integration, Sui also shared its perspective on X, stating, “Today, [First Digital Labs] announced that they are launching FDUSD, the fastest-growing stablecoin in crypto, on Sui – making it the first 1:1 backed dollar native stablecoin on the network.” Beyond the imminent issuance on Sui, FDUSD has been previously established on Ethereum and the BNB Chain.
Launched in August 2023, FDUSD quickly ascended to become the fourth-largest stablecoin by market capitalization. Currently, FDUSD boasts a market value of $3.28 billion, trailing behind Makerdao’s DAI at $4.85 billion. On Wednesday, First Digital Labs described the collaboration as a “significant milestone in the expansion of FDUSD into the thriving Sui [ decentralized finance] ecosystem.”
First Digital added:
The partnership between First Digital and Sui is a strategic alliance aimed at enhancing liquidity and efficiency of transactions, continuing to bridge traditional finance to the ever-expanding digital economy.
Notably, First Digital also specified that the stablecoin FDUSD is not designed for U.S. individuals. The X account stated, “Important, FDUSD are not intended for nor available to, and may not be used by or for the benefit of, U.S. Persons.”
