The Ethereum network is set to undergo one of its most extensive upgrades named Pectra, which will integrate the EVM Object Format (EOF) and introduce Vitalik Buterin’s proposed EIP-7702, allowing Ethereum account addresses to act as smart contract wallets temporarily during transactions. The Pectra upgrade, expected to be rolled out in the first quarter of 2025, aims to enhance the user experience by addressing issues such as transaction fees on Layer 2 platforms and integrating around 19 EIPs, including changes like increasing the maximum effective balance for validators.
