Dust Worth Millions: Coinbase Executive Identifies Ross Ulbricht-Linked Wallets Containing 430 Bitcoin

This article was published more than a year ago. Some information may no longer be current.

Conor Grogan, Director of Product Strategy at Coinbase, has recently linked 430 bitcoin to the now-free former founder and operator of Silk Road, Ross Ulbricht. According to Grogan, these funds are scattered across dozens of wallets that were not confiscated at the time of Silk Road’s takedown operation, and have been untouched for more than 13 years. “Back then these were probably dust wallets, now, collectively, they are worth about $47M,” Grogan stated. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen if Ulbricht has the seed phrases for these wallets stored, or if he lost control of them, Grogan noted.
