On July 9, 2024, a dormant bitcoin wallet transferred 149 BTC at block height 851,440 while bitcoin ( BTC) was trading just below $58,000. The wallet, created on Nov. 20, 2013, had remained inactive for over ten years and seven months. At that time, bitcoin was valued at $644 per coin, making the entire cache worth $95,956. Today, it is valued at $8.4 million. In the first nine days of this month, nine transactions have emerged from vintage bitcoin wallets created in 2013. Since the start of July, btcparser.com’s blockchain parser notes that 2013 transactions have moved a total of 1,353.63 BTC, valued at $78.36 million. Among these transfers, one wallet moved 1,004.49 BTC in a single transaction. These awakenings of dormant bitcoin occur while BTC is trading below the $60,000 mark in a bearish downtrend.
