‘We Want All the Remaining Bitcoin to Be Made in the USA’
In a notable development for the cryptocurrency industry, former U.S. President and presidential candidate Donald Trump met with key figures in bitcoin mining on Tuesday. During the meeting, Trump engaged in discussions with Bitcoin Magazine CEO David Bailey and several leading American bitcoin miners, including representatives from Cleanspark, Riot Platforms, and Marathon Digital. He pledged his support for bitcoin mining efforts both in Washington, D.C., and globally.
Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social on Wednesday:
Vote for Trump! Bitcoin mining may be our last line of defense against a CBDC. Biden’s hatred of bitcoin only helps China, Russia, and the Radical Communist Left. We want all the remaining bitcoin to be made in the USA!!! It will help us be energy dominant!!!
Trump has consistently promised to prevent the Federal Reserve from creating a central bank digital currency ( CBDC). “You know what they’re doing. Such a currency would give a federal government — our federal government — absolute control over your money. They could take your money. You wouldn’t even know it’s gone. This would be a dangerous threat to freedom, and I will stop it from coming to America,” the former U.S. president stressed in January.
Bailey commented on social media platform X on Tuesday after meeting with Trump:
Today was a historic moment in our journey towards hyperbitcoinization.
“The former and next President of the United States gathered America’s hashrate and committed to championing our cause in DC and on the global stage,” he added, emphasizing that bitcoin will thrive in the U.S.
Recently, Trump’s campaign began accepting cryptocurrency donations. The former president has voiced support for the rights of cryptocurrency holders, earning substantial backing from the crypto community. He has actively courted this community, pledging to halt President Joe Biden’s anti- crypto policies and positioning himself as the “crypto president.” Trump emphasized that the Biden-Gensler campaign against cryptocurrency would cease within an hour of his second administration. In March, he referred to bitcoin as “an additional form of currency.” In February, he acknowledged bitcoin’s growing popularity, noting that it has “taken on a life of its own” and that he “can live with it.”
