Damex Secures MiCA CASP Licence, Establishing its Position as a Tier-1 Digital Asset Institution in Europe

Damex’s Malta entity has been authorised as a Crypto Asset Services Provider (CASP) under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) by the Malta Financial Services Authority; this milestone represents a key step in Damex’s ongoing regulatory and institutional development.

Damex is now among 148 firms across Europe approved as a CASP under the MiCA framework. Of these, only 46 are authorised to provide both custody and exchange services, and only one also holds a Gibraltar licence within its group to deliver similar regulated digital asset services currently offered by Damex.

The achievement positions Damex as one of Europe’s leading digital asset institutions.

MiCA introduces a harmonised regulatory framework for the digital asset sector, setting clear standards for governance, operational durability, transparency, and consumer protection.

For businesses and financial institutions, working with crypto providers without MiCA authorisation introduces regulatory and operational risks, as it does not provide the protections the framework offers.

The MiCA licence provides Damex with regulatory recognition on par with major institutions, including Revolut, BBVA, and Coinbase. This status strengthens Damex’s position as a trusted partner for banks and financial institutions in Europe, specialising in crypto and distributed ledger technology.

Since 2017, Damex has operated under robust digital asset regulatory standards, holding a Gibraltar DLT licence and delivering regulated infrastructure for institutional clients ahead of MiCA’s introduction.

With the licence granted, Damex is now in its final pre-operational phase under MiCA, focusing on system readiness, governance alignment, and operational controls ahead of full launch.
