$13T Asset Manager Charles Schwab Adds 3 Altcoins to Its Crypto Push

Key Takeaways

  • Charles Schwab will add SOL, AVAX, and LINK to Schwab Crypto after its May 2026 debut.
  • Solana (SOL) saw a 12.4% percentage gain on Thursday as Charles Schwab’s expansion broadened institutional crypto accessibility.
  • Charles Schwab’s Schwab Crypto disclosed that more crypto assets could follow as TradFi adoption expands beyond BTC and ETH in 2026.

Schwab Crypto Expands Beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum

Schwab Crypto rolled out in May 2026, and this week the company noted that clients will be able to buy and sell solana, avalanche, and chainlink. The release disclosed that these three crypto assets “will be available in the coming months,” and other digital assets may be announced going forward. Schwab further noted on Thursday that the firm has the right to delay, modify, or even withdraw support entirely for the specific crypto assets.

The Schwab Crypto news comes as bitcoin’s price and crypto asset valuations have been rallying hard and at the time of writing, the crypto economy as a whole stands at $2.7 trillion. SOL, AVAX, and LINK have prospered in terms of percentage gains since the news.

SOL leads the pack on Thursday with a 12.4% gain, LINK rose 6.8%, and AVAX has jumped 4.6% against the U.S. dollar, performing better than bitcoin’s price gains. While BTC is up 7% over the last seven days, SOL, for instance, has climbed 24.1%.

Traditional Finance Pushes Deeper Into Digital Assets

Similar to the Schwab Crypto rollout of BTC, ETH, and then new coins, institutional crypto participation initially started with spot bitcoin and ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and then, after the 2025 generic listing standards, spot funds for SOL, XRP, LTC, and DOGE went live. Naturally, brokerages are the next in line, and these days, traditional finance (TradFi) seems to acknowledge that crypto assets are now a standard portfolio sleeve, not a side bet.

Schwab Crypto Says Clients Want More Digital Asset Choices

Joe Vietri, Schwab’s head of digital assets, explained on Thursday that the latest expansion gives clients more ways to build a digital-asset allocation. “With this expansion, clients will have more choices to build a digital asset allocation alongside the investing and banking experience they know and trust at Schwab,” Vietri remarked.

The Schwab executive added:

“These additions are consistent with our approach to provide clients with access to familiar cryptocurrencies backed by an ecosystem of education, tools, resources, and support to make informed decisions about how crypto might fit into their broader investing goals.”
