Gate.HK, the Hong Kong arm of cryptocurrency exchange Gate.io, is undergoing a significant platform overhaul to enhance security and compliance, withdrawing its applications for licensing under Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Ordinance (SFO) and the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance (AMLO). Effective immediately, new user registrations and asset deposits are suspended. All tokens will be delisted, and trading will cease by 4:00 PM on 28 May 2024. Asset withdrawals will be allowed until 28 August 2024, and marketing activities in Hong Kong have stopped. “We strongly advise users to allow themselves sufficient time to wind down or otherwise manage their positions with Gate.HK before 4:00 PM (Hong Kong time) on 28 May 2024 and to withdraw their assets from the platform before 28 August 2024,” the platform stated.
