Crypto Exchange Bybit Announces Trading Support for Overseas Chinese

This article was published more than a year ago. Some information may no longer be current.

Cryptocurrency exchange Bybit has opened its platform to overseas Chinese residents for trading. The Dubai-based company’s decision is part of a strategy to draw new users while navigating the complexities of global regulatory scrutiny. β€œThis move is in response to the growing demand for secure, reliable, and user-friendly cryptocurrency trading platforms among Chinese expatriates and international Chinese communities,” Bybit stated. According to the exchange, mainland Chinese expatriates can now set up accounts using their national IDs or passports. Nevertheless, Bybit is maintaining a strict policy of not accepting applications from IP addresses located in mainland China or linked to Chinese phone numbers. Recently, Bybit withdrew its crypto license application in Hong Kong due to new regulatory requirements. β€œThe cryptocurrency landscape is constantly evolving, and Bybit is committed to responsible growth. We are actively exploring opportunities in various markets,” the exchange highlighted.
