Citrea Launches USD Stablecoin for Bitcoin Liquidity Issued by Moonpay, Powered by M0

Citrea announced the launch of Citrea USD (ctUSD), a U.S. dollar–denominated stablecoin backed 1:1 by short‑term U.S. Treasury bills and cash, issued by Moonpay and built on M0’s universal stablecoin platform to serve as native liquidity for the bitcoin ecosystem; ctUSD will be available to users in the U.S. (excluding New York) and in over 160 countries (excluding Canada and the European Economic Area). The token aims to unify onchain bitcoin collateral and offchain fiat rails, reduce fragmentation, and provide immediate access to deep liquidity via Moonpay’s network of 30 million+ verified users.

ctUSD supports instant buy/sell via Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Paypal where regionally available, offers virtual accounts and banking rails through Moonpay’s Iron, and leverages Swaps.xyz and Helio for cross‑chain swaps and merchant payments; Orkun Kilic, co‑founder and CEO of Chainway Labs, says, “ Liquidity on Citrea is forming now.” Access and distribution follow Moonpay’s compliance framework, U.S. money‑transmitter licensing (49 states excluding NY), MiCA approval in Europe, and UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) registration where applicable.
