Build on Bitcoin Protocol Joins Superchain as First Hybrid L2

This article was published more than a year ago. Some information may no longer be current.

BOB, short for “Build on Bitcoin,” is now part of the Superchain ecosystem, a network expanding with Optimism’s OP Stack. As a hybrid layer-two (L2) solution, BOB taps into the strengths of both Bitcoin and Ethereum, merging Bitcoin’s security with Ethereum’s adaptable framework. This blend overcomes Bitcoin’s limitations in smart contracts and interoperability, creating a trust-minimized bridge to Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) decentralized finance (defi) tools for seamless access. BOB aims to enhance the Superchain experience with features including one-click BTC staking and simple onboarding, streamlining BTC defi for users and developers alike. BOB integrates with BTC staking layers such as Babylon and liquid staking tokens (LSTs) like Solv and Bedrock. Currently, it claims to support 40 active projects with another 60 in development and secures over $100 million in total value locked (TVL).
