Buenos Airesβ Innovation and Transformation Secretary, Diego Fernandez, confirmed that Quarkid, a self-sovereign decentralized blockchain ID project, has already been implemented as part of the cityβs app, Miba. In a recent interview, Fernandez explained that users who have verified their identities with authorities can now use Quarkidβs sovereign technology, which allows them to store their identity documents locally on their cell phones. These citizens can have sovereign control over their data. βIn the digital world, we are data and we are unaware of it. It is like being willing to strip naked in public. We have to be more aware of our privacy,β Fernandez stressed. One million citizens can now leverage this initiative, while 2.2 million still need to verify their identities.
