Boltz Launches Non-Custodial USDT Swaps Connecting Lightning to Stablecoins

On March 18, 2026, the non-custodial exchange Boltz announced the launch of USDT Swaps, a tool bridging Bitcoin layers with the world’s most used stablecoin. This service allows users to swap between Satoshi units on the Lightning Network and USDT without requiring centralized accounts, KYC, or third-party custody. The integration leverages the Arbitrum network to ensure low gas fees and fast transaction speeds for global users.

The importance of this launch lies in its “routed swap” architecture, which utilizes tBTC as an intermediate asset to maintain atomicity and security. By employing Layerzero’s Omnichain Fungible Token standard, Boltz provides liquidity across various networks including Ethereum, Optimism, and Polygon. This update allows local merchants and individuals to hedge volatility or fund crypto debit cards in seconds while retaining full control of their keys.

“This isn’t just a new Boltz swap pair. It’s a fundamentally new capability for Bitcoin,” stated Kilian Rausch, CEO of Boltz.
