On Thursday, the team behind BNB Chain introduced a novel Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS) offering for the development of layer two blockchains ( L2s) atop the BNB Chain. The team detailed that the service equips sizable decentralized applications ( dapps), enterprises, and the BNB Chain with the essential technological framework required for launching specific L2s on BNB Smart Chain (BSC).

BNB Chain and Bespoke L2 Networks

The BNB Chain has unveiled its Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS) to facilitate the creation of bespoke L2s on its platform. BNB is positioned as the fourth biggest crypto asset by market capitalization, and its blockchain stands as the third most substantial decentralized finance ( defi) network in terms of total value secured.

The RaaS venture is tailored for dapps and an extensive array of blockchain initiatives, as developers maintain that RaaS provides a budget-friendly and streamlined avenue for constructing and implementing rollup networks. Blockchain rollup technology refers to an L2 scaling solution for blockchains that processes transactions off-chain and then compiles them into a single piece of data submitted back to the main blockchain.

Typically, there are two main types of blockchain rollups: Optimistic rollups and Zero-Knowledge (ZK) rollups. “Our ethos is rooted in collaboration and Web3 mass adoption. By combining the power of RaaS and the interconnectivity capabilities of our ecosystem, developers will have a comprehensive toolkit to build efficient and scalable layer 2s on BSC,” the BNB development team said on Thursday.
