Bitfarms Ltd., a bitcoin mining company, announced on Tuesday that it has taken control of its new data center in Sharon, Pennsylvania. “This site represents Bitfarms’ first mega-site in the U.S. with access to up to 120 MW,” the company said. Located in the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland (PJM) grid, the site offers low-cost, flexible power ideal for bitcoin mining, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence (AI). Bitfarms plans to bring 30 MW of capacity online by the end of 2024 and anticipates further expansion to 120 MW by 2025. The site is expected to support up to 8 exahash per second (EH/s) using advanced mining technology. The expansion aligns with Bitfarms’ strategy to enhance its geographical diversification and leverage the PJM market’s energy trading opportunities.
