BC Card Completes Pilot for Foreign Stablecoin Payments in South Korea

BC Card announced on Tuesday the completion of a pilot that tested the use of foreign stablecoins, held in overseas digital wallets, as digital prepaid cards for payments at domestic BC Card‑affiliated merchants. The trial, conducted with blockchain finance firm Wavebridge, overseas wallet provider Aaron Group, and fintech Global Money Express, ran from October 2025 for about two months.
The test demonstrates that stablecoins can be integrated into Korea’s card‑payment infrastructure, offering foreign users seamless QR‑code transactions without physical cards or currency exchange. CEO Choi Won‑seok said, “ Stablecoins have great utility for cross‑border payments, and BC Card will progressively develop a compliant stablecoin‑payment model.” The solution will be rolled out where permitted by Korean law and aligned with upcoming virtual‑asset regulations.
