Base, the Ethereum Layer 2 solution incubated by Coinbase, has announced the Onchain Summer Buildathon. The event, which runs from May 31st to June 30th, invites builders worldwide to showcase their skills in various onchain use cases, including payments, commerce, gaming, and social. The Buildathon offers 200 ETH in total prizes across eight sponsored tracks, with each track offering 20 ETH in rewards. Sponsors for the event include Stripe, Shopify, Farcaster, Zora, Fleek, thirdweb, Nouns, Aerodrome, and Synthetix. In addition to the track rewards, a bonus pool of 40 ETH is available for builders using specific tools to enhance their onchain apps. The event aims to make coming onchain more accessible, useful, and fun for everyone around the world. In related news, investment firm Franklin Templeton recently declared that Base will lead the Ethereum L2 sector.
