Aptos Foundation and Tech Firm Jambo to Collaborate

The Aptos Foundation has partnered with Jambo to enhance Web3 innovation and make it more accessible in regions such as Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. As a tech firm, Jambo has introduced the Jambophone, a blockchain-integrated smartphone priced at $99, tailored for the burgeoning markets.

This week, the Aptos Foundation highlighted that the partnership aims to remove “barriers to digital participation and fostering a future where everyone, regardless of their geographic or economic status, can access” Web3 innovation. The news follows the success and demand for Solana’s blockchain smartphones, the Saga and Chapter 2, with the former selling out and the latter amassing a significant tally of pre-orders post-launch.

The blockchain phone market has also witnessed earlier entrants like HTC’s blockchain smartphone and Siren’s cryptocurrency-focused ‘Finney’ phone. The Jambophone distinguishes itself through affordability, boasting a global availability across over 40 countries.

The Aptos Foundation disclosed that the phone is equipped with the Aptos-compatible wallet, Petra, and the Jambo App, offering users an introduction to Web3 and educational resources. Aptos, a newcomer to the blockchain scene since its mainnet launch in Oct. 2022, originated from the efforts of two engineers from Meta’s Diem initiative and has garnered support from venture capital firms, including Multicoin Capital, Parafi, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and the now-defunct FTX.

The native token of Aptos, aptos (APT), currently ranks 30th in the crypto market by capitalization. Despite a 7.6% decline over the last day, APT has seen a modest increase of 5.9% over the past two weeks. This performance stands in stark contrast to the L1 token ethereum’s ( ETH) market increase, which has experienced a notable 20.9% surge in the same timeframe.
