2025 Will Be the Year of Crypto ETFs, Powered by the Trump Administration
Crypto-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are expected to experience significant growth this year. This is the opinion of Nate Geraci, president of the ETF Store, an investment advisory firm that focuses on ETFs. As part of his five predictions for 2025, Geraci predicted that, as the political winds change, more options for several cryptocurrencies will be opened this year.
Geraci believes that spot bitcoin ETFs will surpass physical gold ETFs in assets unless a black swan event happens and bitcoin prices collapse. Over 50 crypto-related ETFs will also launch, including options-based products, equity ETFs denominated in bitcoin, and bitcoin bond EFTs.
Geraci also foresees the growth of the recently filed Bitwise Bitcoin Standard Corporations ETF, which tracks the performance of companies following the bitcoin standard. He expects this ETF to launch and surpass the $1 billion mark this year.

In addition, Geraci expects two heavyweight tokens to enter the ETF market this year. XRP and SOL ETFs will likely be filed and launched in 2025, allowing institutional crypto investors to diversify their bets.
Finally, Geraci expects Vanguard, one of the largest ETF providers, to capitulate and give customers brokerage access to bitcoin and ether ETFs. Vanguard revealed a strong anti- crypto stance since the approval of the first BTC ETFs, stressing that crypto was an “immature asset class” with “no economic value.”

“Much of this is based on what I expect will be a markedly different approach to crypto by the Trump administration than what we witnessed under the Biden administration,” Geraci assessed.
2024 was a big year for bitcoin ETFs. Geraci remarked that Blackrock’s Ishares Bitcoin Trust, IBIT, had the best launch of any ETF in history, holding over $50 billion in BTC by the end of 2024.
