A bunch of treasure hunters, inspired by the film ‘The Goonies’, & their own quest & adventure, uncovered a blockchain treasure called KWIF, Kitten Wif Hat. What does that mean? Settle in for an exciting, still breaking story brought to you by Pedro Garcia, crypto chart analyst for DYOR Media.

Crypto Treasure Hunters Uncover Hidden Pump.fun Memecoin
Crypto Twitter is composed of many smaller communities. One trait all of the most successful communities share is work ethic. Their members are constantly grinding in the trenches. Whether you’re talking about developers creating better tech, the traders fighting in the order books, or the marketers getting their messages out, they’re all working hard to push the entire space forward.
This is certainly true of one group that searches through blockchain data looking for hidden value, in much the same way treasure hunters search for historical objects with metal detectors and historical research. I spoke with Vibes, an enthusiastic blockchain sleuth, who said, “I love treasure hunts, I love puzzles. Breadcrumbs, moving step-by-step on to something new.” Her dedication is apparent. When we spoke she had been awake for more than 60 hours after discovering KWIF, and still was brimming with energy.
Shogun, a self-identified Ligma chad, was early to memecoin sensations WYAC and GOAT (both of those memes are article worthy in their own right), recounted to me how he and others discovered KWIF. It was found by accident while they were looking for relics on the Solana blockchain. A relic, by their definition, is a valuable digital artifact, for example tokens or pieces of art that are unique for various reasons. For example, perhaps the coin contract was the first of its kind to be deployed,or an NFT from an address that later on went on to create more famous works. Shogun and others were looking for relics on Solana, when they stumbled upon KWIF.
Before continuing, let’s take a small tangent that is important to the story – Pump.fun. For those unfamiliar with the crypto phenomenon, Pump.fun is a crypto platform, launched in January 2024, that allows users to create and trade memecoins instantly. As of October 2024, Pump.fun has facilitated the deployment of over 2.5 million memecoins, the vast majority of which have zeroed out. Notable memescoins from pump.fun are Michi (MICHI) and Mother (MOTHER).
Back to the story. What Shogun and his group of quants stumbled upon were a collection of five transactions that were hidden on Pump.fun. Hidden in the sense that they are unsearchable through the Pump.fun interface, but can be located on the blockchain for those with the know-how to find them. These five transactions happened after Pump.fun was live, but before it was publicly launched. Most likely they are test transactions to make sure Pump.fun’s features were bug free.
The first transaction was testing buy and sell. The second was an upload of a picture of a penis, most likely a test of nudity checks. The third was for burger and fries, the fourth was a “hello world” style check. The fifth was Kitten Wif Hat with the ticker KWIF, featuring the following image:
KWIF qualifies as a relic, a valuable digital asset and the provenance of the blockchain, not only because it is the first meme ever launched on Pump.fun, but it was also deployed by Alon, one of the co-founders of Pump fun. One of Alon’s verified wallets deployed KWIF.
Shogun stressed to me that this is, “a community takeover” of KWIF. What this means is that they did not deploy KWIF, so they have no formal control over the coin, but through their enthusiasm and belief in the value of the dormant coin, they have taken over the role of supporting and promoting the Kitten Wif Hat. Shogun, Vibes, and many others believe in KWIF with a cult-like fervency. There’s a lot of meme value there too.
Again, it’s the first memecoin animal ever created on the most popular memecoin creation platform in crypto, Pump.fun. It was hidden from the public until Shogun and co stumbled upon it through sheer grinding in the trenches. It was the first token created by the co-founder of Pump.fun. It is a cat, WIF a hat. It’s on Solana, the epicenter of memecoins this cycle.
