• His API keys being in a video is a supposition though – at least according to this article that is not established. So it could be they got them some other way, which would be more worrying. But if he had 2FA why not just disable the API as soon as he logged in? The attacker would not be able to turn it back on.

    • Yes, the 2FA info in the video troubles me. But, I could not find anywhere in the explanation video where they tried to disable API keys. If the exchange found the API calls, I wonder how they communicated the source to this guy who owns the account. The API calls should have a trace back to a hard address and key signature.

Do NOT LEAVE your crypto on ANY exchange!!!

To do any actions via Bittrex API key you need to know a secret of the API key. Also you need to activate a withdraw function of this API key. It is very stupid to show this API key and a secret on Youtube

This makes zero sense. If they were selling his bTC holdings, how did they get the funds out? THey could transfer the BTC out if they sold the BTC. They would have cash which could only be withdrawn to verified bank accounts. So how could of they sold off his BTC and then stilll had his BTC to transfer out to an unknown BTC wallet. None of this makes any sense whatsoever. I think his friend ripped him off personally. Cause this whole article is bogus Or he made stupid trades and is trying to save face by pretending it was stolen. If it was stolen then either the person who wrote this article is an idiot or the guy is an idiot and lying about what happened.

    • They were selling (trading) his alt coin holdings into BTC then withdrawing (transferring) the BTC.

Even the exchangers websites can steal randomly your BTC and people will think that there was an outsider thief. Everything is possible. The bigger the exchange is, and the more members it has the exchange, the lower the chances to get you BTC stolen by a greedy staff.

the tittle of the article is miss leading! lol. revealing a key is down right stupid! thats like revealing your password! lol
they have a lot of know it all and buy this cc and take my course folks on line. The pump and dump guys! As proof of their holdings what they can do is take a screen grab of what they have block out the numbers. A matter of fact to make it real secure they can even put a digital key on it for viewing lol. but to get someone who said buy this cc! but I cant show you I own it, there is something wrong! with that.

there has been many videos that give good advise, start out small in the cc arena, make sure to not leave your cc on the exchange! research your buys etc. they are a couple of guys on yt who are transparent! and give good advise. some of the others ones you can tell they are pump and dump guys. Those guys u have to watch out for.

I feel sorry for him losing all that BTC. The lesson for all of us is what we’ve heard many times, never leave your coins on an exchange. Use an exchange only for quick transfers and clean it out except for a very minimal amount (less than US$25.00 I recommend to others). Keep your saving in cold storage that is so cold it is about 100 miles underneath Antarctica! 🙂 Get some hardware wallets and keep your coins out of reach of bots and other thieves. Just saying.

  • Do not leave your money on a trading exchange more than 48 hours.

My 0.26 ฿ has stolen from bittrex at first time I sign up. They’re sold my ETH to BTC and withdrawal within 3 min since my 2FA enabled. 14 hrs with no any response from my support ticket. I wonder why the funds has withdrawal over 2FA??
