Electrum bitcoin wallet for Android is coming to Google Play

Electrum which is currently the most popular bitcoin wallet according to community rating and reviews, sent out a tweet today announcing the first public beta release of the popular bitcoin wallet for Android which will soon be available in Google Play.

In the past Electrum wallet Android users could download the wallet directly from electrum.org and compile the wallet and use it however, with Electrum moving the downloads to Google Play as well this will now introduce the wallet to a much larger audience of Android users. At this time there is no official Electrum wallet in Google Play.

Users can download the new .apk files from electrum.org and run the beta wallet now by going to this page: https://electrum.org/#android

Here are some basic screens of the new beta release.

As you can see, the wallet has basic wallet functions such as Send and Receive. In the Settings are other options, which include Dynamic fees to ensure that your transactions are confirmed as quickly as possible. Other features include PIN support, invoices which show payment requests, and transaction history.
