Canadian exchange QuickBT celebrates new milestone

Toronto based bitcoin exchange QuickBT has celebrated a new milestone, announcing that they have sold over 100,000 bitcoins since launching in summer 2013.

The nearly three year old startup is selling a decent amount of bitcoin for a smaller style exchange-brokerage focused on the Canadian buying market only. Back in 2013, there were only so many exchanges around, and not many in Canada for users to buy bitcoins in CAD.

A lot has changed in the past three years, with several more exchanges making Canada their home; including other exchanges who operate in other parts of the world with banking relationships in Canada to offer CAD deposits and withdrawals.

QuickBT said on Twitter that the exchange has sold bitcoin over 100,000 times and the average purchase price of bitcoin is $80.00 CAD ($61.29 USD). QuickBT seems to have a loyal customer base, being able to continue on while other bitcoin exchanges in Canada have had to shutter. Take for example, Vault of Satoshi. This was probably the most popular exchange in Canada during its time, but closed down in 2015.

In Canada, the LocalBitcoins market demand is pretty steady, with a relatively stable and consistent market of traders buying and selling bitcoin for CAD at a rate of around 300 BTC per week.
